Hamadan province lies in a temperate mountainous region to the east of Zagros. The vast plains of the north and northeast of the province are influenced by strong winds, that almost last throughout the year. The various air currents of this region are: the north and north west winds of the spring and winter seasons, which are usually humid and bring rainfall. The west-east air currents that blow in the autumn, and the local winds that develop due to difference in air-pressure between the elevated areas and the plains, like the blind wind of the Asad Abad region.
The capital city of hamedan province of Iran , few city in the world can boast a history as old as Hamadan , it is cradle of eastern continent and it offers a cornucopia of Iranian history and calture. Herodotus who is the historian in the ancient Greek declares that Hamadan was the capital of the Medes around 700 BCE .c Hamadan with the ancient name Ecbatana or Hangmatana is 1850 meres above the Era level and has a green mountainous eraa in the foothill of the 3574 Meter Alvand mountain . According to historical records the foundation of Hamadan is related to “Diya Aku “ a king of the medes from 700 BC . During the Parthian Era it became the residence of Parthian rulers as the summer capital . The Sassanids built their summer palaces in Hamadan as well. Hamadan had been always at risk. It was completely destroyed by Timurid invasion but the city thrived in the 18 century during Savavid Era. Hamadan surrendered to the ottomans but under the peace treaty between Iran by Nader Shah and Ottomans it was returned to Iran . During the first world war the heavy fighting took place between Russian and Turko- German Torces and Hamadan was occupied by both armies and finally by the british before it was returned to control of Iranian government at the end of 1918. Hamadan is home to many poets and cultural celebrities and has always been well known for handicrafts like Leather , Ceramic and carpets. In the city of Hamadan there are many significance sites and Iran’s cultural heritage organization lists 207 sites among them the remains of Tomb the Bibbilan esther and her cousin Mordechai is located there . Abu Ali Sina (known as Avicenna) in the west is buried in Hamadan . Dome of Alavian , Qorban tower , Ganj nameh and Ali Sadr cave are the sites worth to see.
